Donna Cartwright from Mums Supporting Families In Need was named the overall Impact Volunteering Volunteer of the Year for 2019 at a ceremony held at the Mayor’s Picnic on Sunday 8th September.
Winner of the Community Services category, Donna is an instrumental part of Mums Supporting Families In Need and works tirelessly to ensure the charity is financially viable. This local not-for-profit supports hundreds of families, Mums Supporting Families In Need is a fully volunteer-run not for profit charity providing Melbourne’s most disadvantaged families with essential material aid, so no child goes without the essentials.
Responsible for all volunteer recruitment and coordination, Donna also manages marketing and public relations, grant writing, engagement and relationship management of corporate partners and oversees all Christmas operations which to date have supported more than 10,000 children and 4,000 families.
In addition to her well deserved recognition, Donna earned a $1,000 prize for her organisation.
Congratulations to our two other category winners who were also recognised on Sunday: Ian Cuthbertson from Australian Radio Rescue Service in the Seniors Category and Hannah Swinnerton from the Speak up for Change Campaign in the Youth Category, both of whom have made significant contributions to the Frankston community.
The annual Impact Volunteering Volunteer of the Year Awards aim to celebrate and recognise the valuable contributions that volunteers make in the community, who often give so much of their own time and resources.
