Mornington Peninsula Legacy Club
Legacy is a uniquely Australian not for profit organisation dedicated to the welfare of families after the incapacitation or death of a spouse or parent, during or after their defence force service.
From the outset Legacy was involved with young widows and young children. Nationally Legacy cares for around 80,000 widows/widowers of defence personnel who died on operations or subsequently. Legacy also cares for about 1500 children and dependants, many with a disability. The average age of our widows is now over 80 years.
MPLC’s widows and families are found in an area from Edithvale to Portsea, and everywhere between the two bays. We care for over 1100 widows and 20 other dependants on the Peninsula.
Legacy Badge Week
We are about to commence our major fundraising activity, Legacy Badge Week, which will run from 31 August to 8 September. Volunteers will be selling throughout the Peninsula and we urge everyone to buy a badge or donate during the week.
In addition to our efforts to recruit more Legatees we are additionally seeking volunteers to help during the week with the sale of badges. Funds raised will allow us to continue supporting those in our care.
