NEWS May 2018

Dear Organisations, Volunteers and Friends,

Welcome to May – the month we celebrate all the wonderful volunteers, making a huge difference across our nation during National Volunteer Week – Thank You!

It’s with a sad heart that we say farewell here at Impact Volunteering to our Coordinator, Melissa King, who has recently been appointed Ebdale Hub Coordinator. We would like to say a HUGE thank you for all you have contributed in your time with Impact Volunteering and you will be greatly missed. Fortunately, Melissa will only be moving to the Ebdale administration office which is adjacent to our office, so we’ll still be able to connect, collaborate and consume Melissa’s home-made banana bread!

As Impact Volunteering continually seek opportunities to improve our services, support and connections in the community, we invite our organisations, supporters and friends to send any news, events, stories or photos they’d like to share in our newsletter, social media or website.

Please email them through to manager@impactvolunteering.org.au

Be awesome, Be you.

NATIONAL VOLUNTEER WEEK CELEBRATIONS

Impact Volunteer Expo

We held our annual Volunteer Expo during May once again and what a great turn out by many of our registered organisations and the community! The Mayor Cr Colin Hampton officially opened our event by recognising and thanking all the wonderful volunteers across our nation and our local community, concluding with the joint cutting of the cake with last year’s overall Volunteer of the Year Awards recipient, Ada Fletcher from Community Support Frankston.

There were many smiling, cake – munching faces happily browsing and chatting about volunteering opportunities throughout the day, with many taking advantage of the Impact Volunteering referral desk going ‘off-site’ at the Expo offering individuals the opportunity to be referred ‘on the spot’ to any current volunteer positions. We have received very positive responses from organisations and individuals alike.

We would like to extend our deep gratitude to everyone who attended, including special guests local Councillors. We look forward to seeing you again next year.

Volunteer Morning Tea

Impact Volunteering hosted our own morning tea to celebrate our wonderful volunteers who not only give so much of their time but also of themselves, you are very much treasured, and we literally couldn’t operate without you. Thank you to our volunteers Margaret, Carole, Mark, Sharnie, Marg, Barb, Daniel, Deb and to the L2P volunteers who also joined us. The Mayor Cr Colin Hampton was also present and expressed his gratitude for the positive impact they and all volunteers are contributing to our community and assisted in presenting each volunteer with their certificate of appreciation and their gifts.
